Linklaters Professorship of Comparative Law in association with
Brasenose College
The Linklaters Professorship of Comparative Law will provide
leadership in teaching and research at the highest level in the
comparative study of legal systems, national or transnational. The
post generously supported by Linklaters LLP.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will engage in research,
lecture and give instruction, supervise doctoral students, provide
academic leadership and examine. She or he will also undertake
administrative duties for the Faculty and the College, including,
for the Faculty, the Institute of European and Comparative Law.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Although expertise in the comparison of any
aspect of law, both public law and private law, is welcome, the
holder of the chair should have expertise in civil law systems (as
opposed to common law systems). Candidates must have an
outstanding record of scholarship and research in the field of the
post, an excellent publication record and the potential to produce
further significant work, the ability to teach and supervise,
proven or potential intellectual leadership skills, and the
ability to contribute effectively to the long-term development of
the study of Law in the Faculty and in the wider academic
community. Administrative and pastoral skills and a willingness to
participate fully in the activities of the Institute of European
and Comparative Law are desirable.
